The Kalkwasser twopart ( now bulkreefsupply ) sells is made Mississippi Lime Company and is food grade. I bought a whole 50# bag from them thus it wasn't repackaged yet.

My guess would be the alkalinity is through the roof which could have as much to do with it as anything.
I'd do the water change.

Many people use a 2 part additive and Kalkwasser but must be dosed seperately. You can't mix them together or they will precipitate.
You must also supplment an ALK additive and not just CA alone....
