I only have a 120 gallon but I have lots of sps's. I have no proplems keeping cal/alk. If anything I have the reactor dialed back so the alk doesn't go through the roof.

I would make a pretty big bet on that being the problem. It does sound like its blowing bubbles threw it. I will be fixing that the first time I replace the media.

I haven't had any performance issue with the quitone. so far it has work flawlessly. Once in a while it will be kind of noisey, but usually quits down after a few hours. Don't know why it does it....

I do believe that 8-12 dkh is recommended by most for corals. Mine has been between 15-18 dkh for months now and the corals are still growing like crazy.

I used an airline tube to go around and vaccume it out. Worked pretty good. You can also just turn the lights off for a few days. The corals will just close up and think its a cloudy day.
