I would say that he is getting stung m8 and since he is swimming with the lion I would also say stress is definitely apparent - thats not normal behaviour for a regal tang.

I dont see ppl dumping vodka or sugar in the sea so steer clear imo, nitrates can be dealt with through macro algae or sufficient live rock and an established sand bed.

Not safe imo - with an RO/DI unit you should be getting 0 tds - is the monitor calibrated ? I use an in-line monitor and if the tds out is over 2 then I change the DI resin.

I think I have the same coral on the side of a scolymia australis but I am trying to get a positive ID. Lovely coral btw.
