I'd put in on one side and point it across the middle of tank to front corner. this way you'll get decent water movement across tank. I know bakpak skimmers get a lot of criticism but I ran one...

do you have an overflow? that generally is where the film gets pulled off of the tank surface, then the skimmer in your sump pulls out the junk. if you dont have an overflow, pointing powerheads up...

I feed only small amount of flakes tha my fish can consume in a minute or two - dont feed so much that it looks like a snow storm. I rinse my frozen food through one of those fine white mesh nets...

I find my zoas do better when I dont move them around as much. I tend to rearrange frags, replace them after hermits knock them off a rock etc. I noticed ones way in the back that I never touch...

I run carbon also, I think it does a great job of keeping the water clear, so long as you change it regularly (which you do), otherwise it can be a nitrate trap.
