Guessing I'm about half way through, there's still a trace of ammonia, like 0.1. Nitrite is around 2ppm, and nitrate is around 5ppm.

I have TONS of coepods and amphipods in the tank now. Also saw what looked like a centipede crawling around on the rocks like it was hunting (definitely not a bristle worm), probably about 3/4" long....

Uh, you should do it like you normally do with a water change. Remove the 2.5 gallons and put it into the new tank. Then, replace the water in the old tank with properly premixed ASW.

No prob. I would probably cut out the mid-day for now at least. Then cut the photoperiod back by a couple hours. Sounds like a nice light setup though.

I like it. I personally wouldn't build up an higher. You've left room for frags/corals that you get that will come on rocks, and room for growth. Is it nice and stable?
