From what I can tell they are relatively similar with regard to long guns to CA gun laws. In a nutshell, semi autos and high capacity rifles carry more restrictions than single shots and lever guns....

JB weld 2-part epoxy, and a couple stainless hose clamps might do it. But even then, no guarantees. At best it might buy you a few days of time.
