I have a 225gal tank so I'm using Tunze Streams. Not cheap... but they move a lot of water and I've had good luck with them. I added another one to more than make up for the loss in circulation...

I've used them. I have an acrylic tank so the version I use is more like using a wet noodle to try and clean or coraline algae. Its pretty useless. You basically rub off the algae, not scrape it...
