Lighting doesn't 'cause' algae to grow like that. Looking at the pics, you have a phosphate problem. Phosphate inteferes with calcification, which is why the corals aren't growing over the dead...

Bleaching has nothing to do with ca or mg. Bleaching is related to higher temperature and light intensity. Do you have any pics?
