Mine are on rocks, i think they like a little more flow than the others. Some slippers and plates will have multiple mouths depending on the species.

It's not only that they are deepwater, but the area they used to be collected in is no longer harvesting them. So now, you have to get them from a collector in Florida that specializes in dw animals....

its not a hogfish, its a wrasse. very docile fish, doesn't like bright lights. some sleep in the rocks, some sleep in the sand. usually collected pretty deep and some suffer from decompression...

It's an adult Mimic or Chocolate Tang - Acanthurus pyroferus. The juvies look like Lemonpeel Angels. Definitely not a hybrid, hope you didn't pay more than like $75 for it.

He did have a Solorensis boxfish a while before that one in the main reef. I asked him a while back, I'm pretty sure he said they were ok, except for not handling the high flow too well.
