I used this stuff called Krylon H2O. It came in a blue hologram like can. Worked really well. COmes out kinda clumpy though. A few coats and you cant see through it anymore.

I will leave the chain on them for hanging. I am only getting rid of them because they partially hang over the overflows and thats just wasted light.

Yea, the salt mix will have the trace elements in it already. If it does not have one, you might want to add a DI cartridge to the RO unit.
