My problem was that the base was always inside the rock, and just covering it is not enough. I picked up a pair of peppermint shrimp from Aquarium Conservation in Cromwell, and have not looked back....

It all comes down to keeping them close to the surface. The frogspawn is 3-4" from the water surface, and the lamp is 6" from the surface to get the whole fuge. Good luck.
