O.K. so if some chuncks swelled a bit, this would slightly reduce the potency? I'm guessing not enough to really change the amount needed.

I have a bag of old Dow that has some chunks in it caused by moisture. I was wondering if the chunks were still useable?

Anybody use these? I'm trying to decide on my new bulbs for a M58 ballast (single ended 250w) and these have some blue to then and still have some par, ppfd=68.

Actually the par on the xm 20000k is ppfd=73 while the hamilton ppfd=53. I like the hamilton color as well but I have never seen the color on the xm or other lamps run by the m58.

If it's that new I guess I wouldn't blame you. The par is pretty low. The Aquaconnect 14000k looks to be an incredible choice for you, but the bulbs are expensive...$115 each on premium aquatics.

I know they are 250w ballasts but are they electronic? standard M58? It makes a difference in the color.

I had those a few years ago and really liked the color. I just wish they had more par, only 53 ppfd. The sunburst has a ppfd 68 but I've never seen the color. Are they comparable to the hamiltons?
