Its about 5 inches under the coralife mini marine aqua light (Compact fluorescent 10,000K)

The tank has light to medium flow.

It does not make much noise at all. Its only 1/2" PVC so there is not a lot of volume flowing through the pipe.

It does "burp" once in awhile, you can hear that, but I don't have any suction noise...
