Flow rate aside. I think that the intake tube is longer than the tank is deep. and you can't really lay it on its side. Why do you want to do this?

Does anyone have a picture of this stuff? After reading about a guys problem in the Nano Tank section I think that may be what I have. It is a nasty brown goo on the sand and it traps bubbles in it.

If you are going to use pellets, I would suggest you look into New Life Spectrum. It is a little expensive but I have had nothing but excellent results with it.
