The snails won't harm the coral. I wasn't even aware of the fact that the crabs will harm the coral. I know that hermit crabs can and will kill the snails but I haven't had that happen yet and...

I'm sure some people follow the acclimation procedure but I just pour the fish store water down the drain and then I dump my snails/hermits right in the tank and I haven't had any problems or lost...
