Its hard to say. Mine takes sand from everywhere, then carries it somewhere else and spits it out. The front to back, back to front, side to side, no real rhyme or reason to it.

Maybe Ill go ahead and hook the mag up external to a bucket and check for leaks and noise. That will either confirm or alleviate my concerns.

Both cool fish, but an uncovered tank is an accident waiting to happen. Kind of like wearing a seatbelt, 99.9% of the time its a waste. Really nice to have that .1% of the time.
