Hmm ... I don't think I restrcted the flow. It was supposed to be compatible with a 1.5" or 2" intake and I chose the 1.5" for higher head pressure.

Also ... test your water ... most really fast growing algae has to do with bad water parameters. I find that most annoying algae can be beaten with algae eaters and a couple of good water changes....
