You will have to keep the back of your tank meticulously clean if you go with a white background. Any tiny speck of algae is going to show. I would go with dark blue or black if I were you.

My skimmer has been on for 4 hours now and has skimmed just like it normally does. No change. I know there are a lot of coral foods on the market that make your skimmer go nuts.

Yeah, I just put in the numbers on the reef calculator and added a whole ton of baking soda. I probably should have done it slower, but whatever, I didn't see any side effects.

I noticed my tank was quite unstable when it was barebottom. JMO though (Don't want to start a debate):). DSB and BB seem to be the two extremes of the 3 different methods and ssb is the inbetween...
