I wouldn't worry about it. Especially if it is in the 125 gal tank. Clean-up crew, worms, and other critters will make a quick meal of it.

I agree to some extent. I don't fully agree that the food contains nitrate but rather it's over feeding and uneaten food decomposing that increases nutrients and nitrate. But, I've never tested this....

I'd be surprised if you got a spike at all. The bristle worms, etc, should make quick work of it. I agree with the earlier post that every tank should have a clean-up crew.

I have a DSB that is about 3 yrs old. I have no plans to replace it. I was lucky to get 150 lbs of the last available Southdown and am reluctant to part with it :)
