after 2 days of running the carbon the tank is now crystal clear.

i use a Water Purifier (counter top DI unit) for water make up and changes. if im doing a water change i let the water sit for at least 24 hours w/ a heater and a powerhead.

I have a 55g tank and the water keeps turning brown. this problem started after i put in 45 pounds of LR in that was cured.
before i put in the LR the tank was up and running for about 4 months...

mantis shrimp have a long planktonic stage.
the power heads, skimmer etc. would kill all the larva before they had a chance to settle out of the planktonic stage.

when it comes to molting i dont know anything about the pistol shrimp, but i do know about mantis shrimps. either case you should find a molt.
with mantis shrimps, moltings can come every 3-4...
