well if you have a return pump or skimmer working while they're off, you're in the clear. but completely stagnant water is not good for a long period of time.

that is a tube anemone. it has a VERY strong sting and will kill and eat pretty much anything it can get it's hands on.

i had 1 250w de mh pendant over my 29g and the edges were ever so slightly darker than the middle. another 3 inches on each side and you'll notice dark spots. 36" is too long for 1 mh. hth.
