Its not a matter of flow, I think its a matter of the core of the flow.
You need a gentle flow. Go for the mod that fat_tony explained above.

I really don't know what cause that thing, it looks like a bite or something like that.

I dont think the nitrates are the issue there.... 10-20 is not too high for that type of corals. Is not the best level of trates but not critical. I think is a matter of flow and light.
