I had a holding reef in the basement with a 42g trash can as the sump. I built a pvc frame 12" high to hold a 5 gal bucket in teh middle of this can....

Sorry for the slow reply, yes it was a brewing carboy. I had to get creative with drilling a rubber plug for both the in and out line to pass through, and then silliconed the heck out...
