I'm not concerned with coralline as it grows like crazy in my tank. Of course it probably wouldn't clean the corraline off my glass, that would be hoping for too much.

Well the aftermarket HID lights advertise different colors by color temp. They sell 3500K, 4300k, 5000k, 6000k, 8000k, 10000k and 12000k. Wouldn't these be the same as a 10000k MH bulb.

Focus - yes it has to do with the reflector, just like in an aquarium hood. The bulb looks like a mini DE MH without one end.
Also you can get a 55...
