i would throw it in a bucket with salt water a heater and a small powerhead and give it a week or 2 checking the water parmaters everyother day or so and when there is no amonia or nitrates toss it...

it probably killed the aiptasia but it also killed all the denitrifiying bacteria in the sand. you will probably have an amonia spike when you put the sand back in the tank. you might want to "cure"...
