About 3 months. Although The live rock had a good amount already on it when I got it. Coralline seems to grow every where in my tank, I have to scrap it off the front glass weekly.

I don't turn mine off while feeding. I dont find that it causes any issues if I leave it on while feeding so I don't bother shutting it off.
My coralife skimmer also kicks out some micro bubbles...
