Thanks for all the advice. I did the splice, heat shrink, and then wrap the 3M majestic tape around the heat shrink. Maybe it's overkill, but at least it's going to give me a better sleep.

I believe the IC ballast will overdrive the bulbs...
I believe the IC ballast will overdrive the bulbs to about 80w each, so I would have about 480w with individual IC reflectors. Also trying to stay away from PCs.

Same setup as elzool. I have 2x54w on IC 430 and 4x54w on IC660. I'll fire up the 2x54w for the first few days and then the 4x54w with increasing photo period each week.
