Whith Charley I ran 2 battery powered air pumps on my 125 for more than 24 hrs and everything did good . So they can work .

Pull the drain pipe out so that the fish will go down into your sump . Of course I'm assuming that you have a sump. It happened to me with my bi color blennie .

Have you tried to rasie the height of the skimmer in your sump ? Put something under it ? It may be due the water level in the sump is to hi for the skimmer and thats whats causing it to produce so...

I had them on my non pressure rated Iwaki and really wasnt that impressed. I think to get the real effect you need a pressure rated pump. But thats just my experience .
They will make a difference...
