The Halimeda in my 2.5 gal pico grows a new segment or 2 at least every day... In my experience it grows pretty darn quickly, I have to prune it back every week...

OP... why don't you get the open polyps to close and compare them to the photo the Markus put up...

To me it looks like the coral is diseased... but I'm not that knowledgeable about it...
