well your not cutting off air since its underwater, and I wouldn't worry about it.. you could leave it on for hours w/ no prob im sure. What are you trying to feed it anyway? Tried Rod's food?

They also tend to open only at night unless they become "trained" to eat during the day sometimes they'll open up in the day time but I've never actually seen it only heard of it.

Take a clean bottle cut the bottom off of it and...
Take a clean bottle cut the bottom off of it and put it over it like a lid, then squirt the food inside the top of the bottle and it will open and take the food while protecting it from fish & shrimp...
