I have a 180g tank. I have not done a water change in one year. The reason why is because last time I changed the water it was such a PITA that I dread doing it again.

Makes sense. :) I wonder how they deal with diatoms, cyano, or hair algae outbreaks that ALWAYS happen with newly established tanks. Perhaps this too is a moot point when dealing with so much water.
