When search is available. Look up "Hofur Gurgle Buster". In my overflow, I could not fit a durso in there, and came across this. Built it in no time for around $3, and it is dead silent!

My skimmer was completely flat for about 6 days...
My skimmer was completely flat for about 6 days before it started to pull gunk. I have read stories where it took as much as 2 weeks. Sounds like it need to be broken in to me.

That would be good lighting, but you will find that you will have to keep the light very high off the water, which is still fine. 250's get hot, and over a 20 gallon, you will have some serious heat...
