use it but check it in a week or so. If it's turning brown, it's a low grade of SS. 316ss is pretty safe. 18-8 may show some rust. 304 is no good.

yes those are bristle worms. My tank and sump have their fair share. I wish i had more because they make great scavengers, but i keep the tank fairly clean of extra food, so they multiply very slowly.
