yes those are bristle worms. My tank and sump have their fair share. I wish i had more because they make great scavengers, but i keep the tank fairly clean of extra food, so they multiply very slowly.

just set it on the sand. Mine is on a barebottom. It leans against a large toadstool. Don't worry, it will make itself comfy. Try not to move it too much.
