if a coral has to depend on the symbiotic algae inside itself it will turn brown as the algae is brown(which would happen if its not getting enough...

nothing in theory a fuge is just a tank...
nothing in theory
a fuge is just a tank speccificly designed to grow algae
and a sump is just to higher water volume and hide equipment but you cand have a fuge in a sump .......

putting fish in an uncycled tank is just asking for trouble IMO it will jsut make the ammonia spike larger and the fish will suffer??

just snip it off and take it out off the tank and put iy in a bowl with some tank water.
you can then chop the head into 2 peices.... but make sure you get a peice of the mouth in each peise
...

keep an eye on it
diatom is a rapid growth algae where as coraline isnt.
if it does turn out to be diatoms keep on top of your parameters and keep your water changes up and it will pass in time

coraline algae will grow on anything but as stated above you dont see it that often as in most...

depending on how highly stocked your system(with stoney corals) is will determine how and when...
