did you give it time to break in once you added the mesh? I performed the mod last night on my G4X (recirced) and I am already very impressed. I dont have a meter so I can not quantify it.

I would cut the kalk out all together till it lowers at least some. Go to a two part suppliment using baking soda which will lower your ph.

I didnt do any water changes for at least a week...

I didnt do any water changes for at least a week afterwards and I didn't even lose my shrimp. Everything was fine so I am sure 60 gallons would be fine. I did run a lot of carbon.
