I get this too and I think it's due to my acrylic lens cover being slightly imperfect. Try wiggling or applying random pressure to parts of the cover while you're reading it and when you get it...

No, this will not work, in order to get the correct molar concentrations to have a balanced 2-part you need to use 100% CaCl per the recipe. Prestone driveway heat is 100% CaCl.

I've been using Arizona tea 1g jugs for nearly a year. Seems to be fine and the plastic doesn't seem to degrade at all. I believe they're probably HDPE as well.
