they should have made the plate like the BK...
they should have made the plate like the BK Minis. if you can remove the elbow and "plug" the diffuser holes where the pump hits directly I would think it would help.

the smaller eheims draw too much air, which is why the aquabees are used. imo aquabees are great for skimmers...but not so great for high pressure & debris...

hynophora, most likely h.exesa or possibly a small h.rigida...pavona does not have such a dense skeleton or meaty polyps. both have very strong stings and kill most sps that they touch.

i'm not sure why they arent more widely used. for us a small footprint is a must...and the H&S has this feature along with being self-feeding. H&S makes quality stuff, but The Aqua-Bee pump worries...
