It says individual reflectors, but the pictures don't appear to show them. Those bulbs are crammed in there pretty tightly.

Not too many tong users around here, eh? C'mon, I know a large portion of people must use tongs, especially you coral farmers.

Romeo, what "E site" are you referring to where you bought your hemostats? You're saying both the Aqua Tongs and the Aquatic Gardner are useless. What makes them so inferior?

Good tongs?

I'm finding I could really use some decent tongs / forceps for my tank. It'd be nice if I could reach the bottom of the tank with them. Are there good sources for these, or a variety of tools I...

I'd use plexiglass for the divider between the fuge and return. Even if you're just keeping a wad of chaeto in the fuge, it'll get pulled through the eggcrate and sucked into your bulkhead.

I've had my K3s for about 6 months now and I'm satisfied. They always start up and are dead silent. Sometimes they start backwards, but they correct quickly. I'm generally a big fan of DIY stuff,...

I've had UV clear up ich before on my tank. Ironically I didn't notice a huge difference in water claritiy, but my tank wasn't green soup to begin with.

I've had an Octopus NW-150 on my 90 for almost a year now (Christmas :)). It has been good and quiet to me. They're $155 now.

I did a similar design before going for the Herbie method. It's pretty effective at keeping noise down. The cap acts like a muffler, keeping the splashing and bubbling down.

So, more or less, they're a good idea to get started. Adorama's tubes are cheaper than Kenko's and can also be used with EF-S lenses. Has anyone used them?

Extension tubes vs. real macro lens

I have a Canon 20d with which I'd like to start shooting some macro. I know everyone raves about Canon's 100mm f/2.8 macro, but it's a little out of my reach right now for something I won't use all...

I know 20g long tanks are not very tall, but I just see this being a nightmare to work inside. I have a taller than normal stand for my 90, and while I have a 30g long as my sump, I don't know how...

Bump for ideas. Not only do the bubbles ruin the appearance of the display, but they also cause serious havoc with my skimmer, causing it to overflow in only a few hours, even with the riser tube...

Bumped my Octopus NW-150 - now microbubbles

I was installing a pump for a UV sterilizer today and I bumped into my skimmer when placing it in the sump. I've taken the skimmer out before to clean it up and I've never had a problem. The...

I think a canister would be a nightmare for a fuge even with a light in it. You'll have to trim the algae that grows in there, and any sand would be stirred by the water moving through it, possibly...

Your MJ Mods probably move more water than the Koralia 4s, but the 4s have a great mount that allows you to move them around in any direction. This would be their key advantage.

barbra, I can't comment on the wear of the gate valve over a ball valve, but I do know that it's much easier to fine tune the flow through the valve if it's a gate. I use one on my primary drain. I...

Try an electric blue hermit or two. I have one in my 90 and he put a good dent in the cyano, but he might need some reinforcements. I plan to pick up a couple more.

You don't absolutely need an SLR to do macro shots. Many P&S cameras have nice macro. I'd look into a used Canon S2 IS. It's within your budget and is a very flexible, capable camera for all kinds...
