2 x 1.5" tubes would work, as would 1 x 2" tube. I would use 2 x 2" tubes for redundancy and peace of mind.

Ditto. I've used krylon fusion to paint regular white fittings and pipe, including submerged areas. No problems whatsoever and you can choose whichever colour you want.

You definitely can glue flex pvc with regular sch 40 cement. Sections of my basement return are plumbed this way and operate perfectly under considerable pressure.

Your diagram includes a valve on the pump side of the tee, use this to isolate the pump before opening the drain valve and you're good to go.

I used 3" pvc sitting on an eggcrate stand. You could do the same thing and just drill holes in the bottom of the piece of pipe. This then sits in the sump like Melev's tower with your drain...
