Many mushrooms, toadstool, sinularia and chaeto are gone.
A snail or two, some xenia, polyps, GSPs, and of course aiptasia's remain. There might be some sneaky purple mushrooms still hiding out.

Dissolved gases affect pH. Letting the water sit out over night assures that the gases have had time to reach equilibrium which in turn assures a stable pH.
