you will cycle the tank twice if you do that, you want to put all your stuff together, anytime you add anything to a tank it has a great potential to cause a spike(cylcle), so your cycle will depend...

The skimmer, you are running a skimmer right?? that will eventually clear all the dead stuff out and the bacteria will take care of the rest, it might have a loger cycle, but it should clear itself...

Another option would be to set the entire set up and let it cure during the cycle as you wont have any livestock in the tank, the cycle might take a bit longer and have more drastic spikes.

I would add a tuxedo Urchin, I have one in mine and its very active and affective with the algea, i have a mixture of both snails and crabs, and i did loose some snails to some crabs and eliminated...

I would say the film is bad, I had it a week into my cycle and pointed two powerheads towards the top and towards the overflow then in a matter of minutes it was gone, i guess it takes some twiking...

I have just got off to this great hobby with a 125 gal, and thanks to Zookeeper I have got a great start on corals and pointed in this direction. I will post pics soon and look foward to the frag...
