Avoid the chemical additives except for things like KW or pH additives. Adding phyto or zoos is fine however and many reefer do that.

Actually the idea is to let the pods grow in the fuge and then get them into the main tank. The main tank provides food but not livestock so the skimmer first in the line is fine.
