I would definately be careful with the brittle...
I would definately be careful with the brittle star (I am not familiar with serpent star behavior) because I have them take out slow moving fish before and it could be very likely they would go for...

I agree with bobbet43, check to make sure there is nothing that is causing the flesh loss. If there are bubbles there get them off and see if it persists.

Looks Great. Love the black sand. Definately go with the 150. It will give great light and you'll be able to keep a lot of corals happy. If you go 70 you'll probably want to upgrade again.
