Star Board of course![*]30 lbs. of HIRocks.com's BEST Base Rock[*]The stand is ugly, but finctionaly, so I will be makeing an Aluminum cover up sheild some time this week[*]And lastly, for this tank, All SPS will have been aquacultured, atleast 2 generations. I have tanken out alot of the base rock on top, and I have added some Live Rock, so the scape os alittlebit different now. I will get a FTS up today when the lights turn on.

Croman 01/08/2006 01:42 PM

Looking good. Try using carbon in your sump. I personally have found out that this seems to accelerate coralline growth with regular water changes.

Travis Savant 01/08/2006 02:30 PM

Yep, I started running carbon just yesterday. I have seen a dramatic difference in water clarity :)

Thanks

Jimsmowen 01/08/2006 02:36 PM

This tank looks awsome already :D

Your water looks REALLY clear, cant wait to see it stocked!

Travis Savant 01/08/2006 02:39 PM

Thanks Jim :D

I plan on starting to stock in mid Febuary. I want to give the base rock alittle more time to turn live so I will have abit more stable environment.

Mikeeal 01/08/2006 08:03 PM

I like how you built the compartment in the sump to utilize the remora and the heater. Nice work.

shouldabenacowboy 01/08/2006 11:13 PM

Nice start.......Cant wait to see it in a few months :)

I painted the U tubes Blue to stop algae from gowing in them. It looks realy good I think :)

mokujin22 01/09/2006 08:22 AM

is your return on a SQWD? how's the interaction between the SEIO and the return?

Travis Savant 01/09/2006 01:47 PM

No SCWD on this tank. I'm not sure what you mean by "interaction"?

was just asking how chaotic the flow was. the combo that you have setup must whip water around in there pretty well. i also have a SEIO (820 along with a couple of MJ 900s and a 600) and have had some trouble getting flow as "non-laminar" as possible in my 26 bow.

Travis Savant 01/09/2006 08:44 PM

I have all of the "direct" flows hitting the glass, so it bounces off and I have ALOT of random flow.

Travis Savant 01/13/2006 09:02 PM

Just to let you all know, I am going to be adding a RBTA to the Left side of the tank. I am going to allow the RBTA to have half of the tank, and heavily stock the other side with SPS.

I'm going to get the RBTA first, and will probly be my first major purchase for this tank other than the start up. I'll be buying it in late Febuary.

Update 1-14-06

Here are some pics of the green coraline groth. IME, Green Coraline is the base for the Pinks and Purples :)

In this picture, you can see the Green coraline growing underneith the rock. The reason for this is because the light is reflecting off of the Star Board and allowing it to grow lol.

Here's the FTS

One more month and it will be time to start the stocking :D
