Royal Blue question

Hi guys,
How much is the royal blue zoo? I'm looking for some polyps. I don't know the price for these and don't want to over pay.. If you know where to get them it would be great too..
:D
Thanks

Elite 06/08/2005 09:43 PM

I guess no one has royal blue ... :smokin:

Blues come and go and you just have to be there when the particular color is available. That's why the price for blues is so high and people pay those prices...just too difficult to locate them cheap because they're scooped up too fast if and when they ever are.

Keep searching and I bet youll find em. Private partys have the best selection and price. And they are interested in your Zoas.

Is $10 a polyp a good price???

Caesar777 06/10/2005 12:19 AM

So-so.

Bearbait 06/10/2005 12:25 AM

Do people really spend $10.00 a polyp? Wow .. So if i had a 20 polyp colony its worth $200 bucks? man Im in the wrong biz!

what would some one pay for a 40 head red acan lord with stripes?

Not solisting here just strikes my intrest!

Elite 06/10/2005 12:44 AM

Bearbait....
Go to the selling forum.. there is a guy selling PHE for $20 a polyps and everyone jump on it... I want it too but too much for me right now...

Wanna frag your zoo?? :p

jay24k 06/10/2005 01:05 AM

Purples used to be the same. I found a nice piece for 40 bucks. I'd say about 40 polyps. The good thing is when the LFS gets a good deal on corals/fish he passes the deal on instead of trying to score off of it.

CritterZ 06/10/2005 12:35 PM

Now that's a store you gotta support!

Any pictures of these "Royal Blues"?

FunGuy 06/10/2005 12:44 PM

I'd suggest not rushing into it until you feel out the market for most items. After you find out how rare they are and approximate market value things are going for, then you can get it and feel more comfortable you got the right price for it. Things may get cheaper over time as it gets more common, but it takes a while. If you see a super cheap deal, then you of course jump on it, but those are rare.

$10 a polyp for a royal blue seems a little expensive to me. That means 20 polyps costs 200 bucks. You should be able to find an entire rock for 200 bucks with much more than 20 polyps.

reefmaint 06/10/2005 12:59 PM

uhh.. i think im gonna stop tank maintance and grow zoos!

How long does it take a colony to double in size?

FunGuy 06/10/2005 01:39 PM

lol, depends on your conditions and lighting... it may only be 2-4 polyps a month? Any hard core zoo propogaters?

reefer123456789 06/10/2005 03:17 PM

I found a piece of true blues at my LFS It has about 30 polyps on it and I only paid $60 for it. These coral are awsome.

Tubs blue zoos at atlantis.
$20 a polyp.
Wait listed.

Caesar777 06/10/2005 10:15 PM

Everything at Atlantis is over-hyped and overpriced. And after dealing with them, expecting great service, I've really been let down.

Anyway, point is, wait till you see a good deal locally, OR buy a larger rock of blues from a reputable dealer. (Usually it ends being $1-4 a polyp, even after shipping, depending on who you get it from.) Like I said, ask and people will tell you.

$10 a polyp is the kind of thing you pay if you're only looking for a couple of polyps; like you have to pay $30-50 for a single head of Indo Acan lord, or you can pay, depending on where you are (LA vs. Ohio, for example, or right near a direct importer) $50-75 or $100-200 for a much larger colony.

Elite 06/10/2005 11:49 PM

That's the problem caesar... I don't know where to get them.. People who know won't tell :( ..... I don't mind paying 100-200 for a big colony .. I just don't know where to get them

Caesar777 06/11/2005 01:03 AM

Well, I know that many of the hobbyists that frequent this site have colonies they'd be willing to fragment for you.

trueblackpercula 06/12/2005 07:46 AM

here is a place that i know gets the best looking blues i have ever seen. I have paid good money for blues with red skirts good luck and hope you find what you are looking for.

sportsguy247 06/12/2005 10:55 AM

dont pay over $5 a polyp. Your gonna find alot of brown skirt blue centers those are nice but not as nice as the blue with red skirt which are harder to find.

Elite 06/12/2005 12:21 PM

Thanks for the tip sportsguy......

reefer123456789 06/12/2005 01:02 PM

The nicest blue zoos I think are the ones with the bright blue center and green skirt although these are often more expensive.

Those are nice... It's blue /w green skirt right??

Anniesreef..
Yeah I look.. They kill you on shipping .. I contact couple sellers located in South CA. They wouldn't lower their shipping cost. They only ship Fedex next day. I know zoo will be ok for 2 days shipping but they don't do it. Hella suck
