How much phosphate Media do I Need?

How much Phosphate media do I need to use at a time?

My total water Volume is around 270 gallons.

If I was to buy a 500 Grams how long would that last?

I usually fill mine about 1/2 way.

okay. that works but what is half way? 250 grams? 500 gramms?

How long does it last?

I have no idea. I usually buy the largest gfo I can find (that is until bulkreefsupply came around). I'm buying a bucket next time. Then by the time I change it every 3 months or so I forget how many fills I get. You can test the output as well to see if it needs changed but I just change it whenever.

I went and looked at my gfo container. Last time I changed I used about 1/3 of a 800 gram bag I won at the frag swap.

i switch back and forth from phosban to phosguard, aluminum oxide is supposed to bond to phosphates the best and doesn't leech back into aquarium which some people think, but actually the dust from phosguard can irritate corals thats why i rinse it with ro water first the place it in reactor. I bought a 4 liter bucket of seachem phosguard.
