How many Jobs have you been through?

I am just wanting to know how many Jobs in life have you been through so far?

I don't know what I really want to do in life. I haven't found that passion yet, but I really want to be a business owner some day. As of now I just finished college and hoping to start somewhere. I am looking at the jobs and a lot of it is business and administration.

For some reason, I have this phobia about the business world where people are so cunning that they are there to shaft and screw me over. I'm one of those nice guys finish last kind of thing. But I dunno.. I don't enjoy the drama and administrative things that go on. But I have no idea what to really do. I've been searching for positions and most of it is just typical administrative types of jobs.

Any suggestions or help? I dont think I can really go that 'professional' route like accountants or financial advisors or etc. But who knows.

I do enjoy business, whether through online or in person.

No matter what you decide to do their are good people and then people that will screw you over. All you can do is your best. You'll step on toes every once in a while, so you'll have to learn to swallow some pride. Times have changed you might get lucky and your first job will be your only job. I thought my last job was the one......I was wrong. They closed the doors displacing about 1000 employees. Life goes on. :)

Have no clue how many jobs. Not enough fingers/toes to count.

Fourth career.

Not sure why you think that "the business world where people are so cunning that they are there to shaft and screw me over." Thats more the exception than the rule IMPHO, and I've worked in business for 30+ years. You go out,do your job and yes you need to market yourself within your company, but that does not mean you go out and screw others over or they are out to screw you over.

You need to get over that phobia if business is your chosen field.

JokerGirl 01/09/2008 08:56 AM

Computer Tech
Chi Chi's Waitress
Pizza girl
Shipping coordinator for an eBay company

As of right now I"m not sure what my job title would be called as I do everything here in the office.... I guess I would be a manager, customer service rep, shelve stocker, and shipping coordinator.

I'm not sure how many career jobs I'm going to end up with. At this point in time my future is somewhat mottled and unclear.

tgunn 01/09/2008 08:58 AM

My jobs:
Dairy Queen
Wendy's
Webmaster of www.ecodog.com

Career:
Software developer / consultant at Sierra Systems (2001)
Development Lead at EISI (financial planning stuff)
Application Architect at Protegra (consulting shop)

After working for 6 years I realized I really don't enjoy business programming, so I'm now in my second year of taking my Masters of Comp Sci degree part-time. My goal is to move into something something like embedded programming, robotics, or something to that effect.

The point? Don't be afraid to try something out; you may end up back at school again at a later date, but that's okay.

The only job I ever had beside working for my dad in the family business is the one I have now.

Interesting post. Most people aren't doing what they want to. I even find that people don't really know what they want to do...me being one of them. I'm trained in business but I must say that it's not my first love.

I believe that you should do what you love and love what you do. If you don't, working is a choir and it shouldnt be. Think about it, you spend more time at work than with your family.

So live your dream and try different/new things. I'd rather make 40K at something I love than 100K at something I hate.

I'm 28 and I've already switched careers many times:

Auto Worker (on the Line)
Weld Quality and Safety Engineer (automotive)
New Media Designer
Creative Director/Owner of my own Media Company
Digital Product Advisor
Retail Sales (hardware)
Sales Assistant
Assistant Brand Manager / MARCOM
Marketing Manager for a Fortune 100 Company (current)

I'm 22 and have had three jobs besides babysitting

Lifeguard, started at 16, quit at 19 when I got hired at the PO.

Video Store, started at 16 quit two years ago, working weekends again now for extra money.

Post Office, started at 19, still there hopefully for a long time. Good paying jobs in my town don't exist unless you want to work at the mill.

I worked at Limited Too for about 6 months. I started durring the back to school mess and there was no training. I was given a name tag and set loose. They didn't even train me on the register until my last two weeks.

Then I was hired at Ace Hardware. I was there for 6 years and I loved it. The only reason I'm not still there is because I moved to Missouri.

For the last year I've been working in a grocery store salad bar.

I'm 24 and still in college.
