intake covers for mj1200s?
i feel horrible.
i was given a beautiful puffer fish yesterday. this morning i found him stuck in the intake of one of the mj1200 powerheads. ameature move and very foolish of me. the other two fish never had any problems so it didn't occur to me that it should be covered with something else besides the cone shapped extension. i dont want to make this mistake ever again. what do you guys use to cover the intakes? |
You can get the sponges that are made for them at DRs Foster and Smith.
|
all of mine came with a mesh cap of some sort.
|
Yea and you can also order separately, the foam covers.
I'll see if I can fine you a link. |

scroll to bottom and you will see, Prefilter sponge 2 Pack 7.99 This includes 2 foams and 1 of the mesh caps you referred to. I really like them, just have to keep them clean, like any prefilter. HTH |
Mine has a plastic cap that is grated. I'm pretty sure it came with it when I bought it.
|
i have the grated caps. stupid i didnt use them earlier.
thanks guys. |
Just so you know though, a fish would have to be pretty weak to get stuck on a mj1200. He was probably sick, or suffering from a really bad after acclimation.
|
I agree with Scuba Steve, the fish was already in trouble. Covering the intake is still a good idea though.
