wave box really stressfull to tank

Just curious how what you guys think i really like the way they work but not if theres a chance of a future problem thanks

says in instructions that it reduces expected tank life ( by 15 percent) if i rebember correctly
go to tunzes site and read

I have had one for close to two years and no problems yet.

Yeah they admit it reduces life to some extent. If the average tank lasts 20-25 years, maybe it will only last 17-20 with the wavebox. most people don't keep the same tank that long anyway.

gsxunv04 10/29/2007 06:30 PM

why would it reduce life, thought it was to make healthy corals.

USC-fan 10/29/2007 06:47 PM

They are talking about the lifespan of the tank itself.

I avoided one for that very reason until I came across a deal on a wavebox that was too good to pass up.

It does such a great job that I haven't looked back.

Yea after seeing a few in person running, I'm a firm believer in the Tunze Wavebox. Tanks last forever anyway like someone said, between 25 and 35 years. I think PaulB on the forums has had his tank set up for something like 30 years or something insane like that with no problems (no wavebox either, just showing longevity of normal tank). I think 99.999% of all people in this hobby will either change tanks, get burnt out and leave the hobby, or some other reason why they won't have the same tank more than 10 years.

I only worry about getting one because I bought a used tank from someone and the silicone job looks like crap and is peeling up on the edges, so I wouldn't push it with a second-hand tank, but new, forgettaboutit.

I really don't think a wavebox will affect the life of a tank but I never had one so I am not a good source.
My current tank is 33 years old and so far, no problems.
