clam attachment

I recently picked up a small clam (1.75 in), smaller than I normally do and much smaller than the rest of the clams in my tank. My question, I have never had any issues with clams not attaching themselves for placement in the tank prior to this -- this little crocea doesn't want to be anywhere except in the sand. I have tried it in several spots over this past week and all it does is push itself back off into the sand -- different lighting, flows, etc. --- any ideas or thoughts? As this clam is smaller than I usually deal with, I just wish to make sure it is properly cared for and settles down. I expected it to be more interested in the rock than the substrate. --- ???

just because a clam moves around doesnt mean it doesnt like the substrate it is on. clams dont have brains and have no way of knowing what they are sitting on. i would place the clam on a small flat rock, in a spot where it gets plenty of light, has something to attach to and cant move around. after it has attached then slowly move it up where you like
